Recently, we have been learning about the creation and extrapolation of surveys. From what I have learned, I have come up with a few ideas on how I can use this in my future classrooms. I can create surveys to collect data on my student's prior knowledge in order to determine how much I will have to cover the basics. To do this, I can list each standard of the class in the survey and have each student answer with a number that corresponds to their understanding. From this, I can then use excel to organize the data and determine the average understanding for each standard. A similar approach could also be used to measure my student's satisfaction with different aspects of the class such as my method of teaching. This would of course be in high school grade levels where the students would be comfortable with using technology in this way.

In my years of being a student, I have experienced many different methods of teaching. I was always enrolled in a traditional brick and mortar school however, when the Covid-19 pandemic occurred, I was forced to complete my eighth-grade year through a mix of synchronous and asynchronous online schooling. These forms of distance learning have varying effectiveness from student to student of course, but for me, I found the asynchronous approach to be most effective. Sitting in an online meeting listening to the teacher give lecture in the synchronous method always felt tedious and rather boring. On the other hand, the freedom of the asynchronous method worked well for me and allowed me to complete assignments quicker and then have free time. As for technology or methods of distance learning that I would like to experience, I can say that I wish some of the resources we have now such as canvas were more fleshed out back when we were forced into online learning.  ...

In the designing process for my website, I made sure to adhere to certain design principals that make a website easier to navigate and more professional. Specifically, I ensured that my pages were somewhat symmetrical while still breaking the text up into blocks to increase readability. I also implemented the use of colors that fit well together and create a comfortable vibe. Overall, I enjoyed the creativity that the assignment evokes, and I am thankful for the opportunity to gain experience in creating websites.     QR codes are something that I have be exposed to for many years in education and public life. I believe they are a very useful tool that can be applied in the classroom. In my own future classrooms, I imagine myself using them in a few ways. One way could simply be a bathroom sign-out page that each student scans before leaving. My high school used this system, and I saw it to be very successful. Additionally, I would provide QR codes on the ...

Countryside High (hs) / Homepage On this website of the high school I attended, an abundance of information is presented in an orderly manner with tabs that help a parent or student navigate it. Details on all of the school events going on are provided as well as contact information and descriptions of each staff member. Viewers of the site can see the names and emails of every teacher as well as what room they are in and what subject they teach. teachers can also provide as much extra information on top of this as they want, meaning that some teachers have included syllabi or links to set up meetings. In my own teaching in the future, I will most certainly use technology to organize my plans. I will take an idea I have seen several professors using which is the use of the site "calendly" to set up conferences and meetings with parents and students that my need extra help outside of classroom hours. I will also use features that are built into canvas as I assume that this s...

My blogging experience so far has definitely been a learning experience. At first, I saw this as simply an assignment to complete, but now, I see it more as an opportunity to reflect on what I have learned and think critically about how I will use it in teaching. I like how when I am blogging, I am able to gather my thoughts on the course material. I feel that it helps me with remembering it. As for any negative feelings I have towards blogging, I suppose that it can at time feel forced depending on the required material to address.          As I covered in our assignment this week to create a lesson plan, I see a great deal of potential for the use of  Ruttl - Best Design Feedback Tool  in teaching. This tool allows a teacher to assign reading to a class that the students can create public annotations on. This ability to see classmate's annotations promotes collaboration and can help students to understand the reading. I will defi...

Prior to this class, I never used Pinterest and would typically only use Instagram for conversing with friends. However, now I have realized the potential these platforms have for expanding my teaching personal learning network. On Instagram, I have followed several teachers that frequently post content about their experiences in class as well as their lesson plans. By viewing their content, I can find ideas that I may wish to use as well as see the solutions they came up with to problems in the class that I may face in my future. As for Pinterest, I am still not terribly well versed in its use, but I have discovered that many teachers will post the materials, or slide shows they use in class on boards.     I am very thankful to be able to say that I grew up in technology rich schools. I cannot recall a time in school when there was not a day during the week designated as "computer lab day". Being so exposed to technology in school from a young age definit...
