The profession of teaching is one that often times requires you to deal with copyright and fair use laws. When selecting images, videos or other media to use in class, us teachers must ensure we are legally in the clear. For this reason, it is important for future teachers to develop an understanding of the laws. This week in class I built upon my own understanding. In my future classes I will reach out to copyright holders before using their intellectual property to get permission.     As for the effects of technology in classrooms, I believe one of the most prevalent negative ones is decreased productivity. In recent years, with more and more students owning cell phone as well as more classrooms using laptops and iPad, students have become more interested in their screens than the schoolwork. In my classroom, I will aim to avoid this consequence by putting in place expectations that devices are only to be used at certain times. I would also allow for set...

Introduction Post

During my time in this education technology class, I hope to learn a set of valuable skills and become well versed in several online tools that will be useful to me in my future as an educator. Every student, including myself has been subject to a boring teacher at some point in their education, and having a teacher that cannot captivate and hold your interest throughout the class can truly be detrimental to one's learning. For this reason, I aim to teach a class that students look forward to each day because they know that the lesson plan will be engaging and even fun. So, to be more specific, I wish to learn about the use of sites such as Padlet, Canva, Blogger and several others that can provide that spark to my teaching in the future.     Going into this class, I can say that I have a solid foundation when it comes to the use of technology for work as well as for creative outlets. In high school, I took two years of digital design class in which I lear...
