The profession of teaching is one that often times requires you to deal with copyright and fair use laws. When selecting images, videos or other media to use in class, us teachers must ensure we are legally in the clear. For this reason, it is important for future teachers to develop an understanding of the laws. This week in class I built upon my own understanding. In my future classes I will reach out to copyright holders before using their intellectual property to get permission.

As for the effects of technology in classrooms, I believe one of the most prevalent negative ones is decreased productivity. In recent years, with more and more students owning cell phone as well as more classrooms using laptops and iPad, students have become more interested in their screens than the schoolwork. In my classroom, I will aim to avoid this consequence by putting in place expectations that devices are only to be used at certain times. I would also allow for set periods of time during the class where students can use their phones such as a "free Friday"

Anyone that is involved in schools be them students, teachers or administrators, are fully aware of the rise in popularity of generative AI. More and more students are using AI to complete assignments for them which has led to teachers using AI detection software. However, AI, despite all its flaws, can be helpful and healthy in the school environment. When students are educated on the ethical use of AI it can cut down on time they need to spend on certain assignments. That being said, I do have questions on whether it is truly worth it. Students from my age group that only had very brief exposure to AI as well as students before us have still been very successful in school. I believe that current students can thrive in their education as well without the involvement of AI.

Through completing the newsletter assignment for this class, I have re-familiarized myself with the Microsoft word software as well as with photoshop. I used features of word such as the insert shapes tool and many different settings including what should be auto corrects and paragraph formatting. If I were to remake my newsletter, or make another in the future, I would do some adjusting to the margins to place my header at the very top as well as move the page numbers to the bottom of the page. These lessons in creating a newsletter will prove very useful in my career as I will likely have to make similar letters for my real classes.
